School Years ("the App") is designed to help you capture and preserve your child's school year memories. Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to protecting your personal information.
Data You Create
School Years stores all of your data in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. The data you create in the App includes:
- Your children's information (names, grades, photos, and memories)
- Content you create (journal entries, photos, voice recordings, milestones, and other memories)
- Year snapshots (height, weight, and other measurements you choose to record)
- About Me prompts and answers
- Any content you share with family members through the app's sharing features
How Your Data is Stored
Your data belongs to you. All content you create in School Years is stored exclusively in your personal iCloud account. We do not operate any servers and have no access to your data.
Your data is protected by:
- Apple's iCloud security and encryption
- Your Apple Account credentials
- Apple's industry-standard privacy protections
Data Sharing
School Years includes optional sharing features that allow you to invite family members to view your child's memories:
- Sharing is always optional and controlled entirely by you
- When you share a child's story, invited family members can view the content you choose to share through Apple's CloudKit sharing
- You can revoke sharing access at any time
- Shared data is transmitted securely through Apple's iCloud infrastructure
What We Don't Do
School Years is designed with your privacy in mind:
- No tracking: We do not track your activity, behavior, or usage patterns
- No analytics: We do not collect analytics or usage data
- No advertisements: We do not show ads or share your data with advertisers
- No third-party services: We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services
- No data collection: We do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal information or content
- No data sales: We will never sell your data to anyone
In-App Purchases
School Years offers an optional one-time purchase for School Years Premium, which unlocks additional features:
- All purchases are processed securely by Apple through the App Store
- We do not collect or store your payment information
- Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account and managed by Apple
- Family Sharing is supported, allowing eligible family members to access Premium features
Children's Privacy
School Years is designed for parents and guardians to document their children's school years. The App does not collect any information from anyone. All data is entered by parents or guardians using their own Apple Account and stored in their personal iCloud account.
Data Deletion
You have complete control over your data:
- You can delete any content within the App at any time, and those deletions will sync across all your devices
- You can delete the App entirely, and all associated data will remain in your iCloud storage until you choose to delete it
- To completely remove all School Years data, you can manage your iCloud storage through your device's Settings app
Third-Party Services
School Years uses only Apple's services:
- iCloud/CloudKit: For secure data storage and syncing across your devices
- StoreKit: For processing in-app purchases
These services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, which you can review at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
